Almost two months after the devastating Feb. 6 earthquakes that hit the country's south, earthquake survivors who had migrated to different provinces have begun to return to their hometowns.

Mahmut Özer appointed as new education minister
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Mahmut Özer as the country's new education minister following the resignation of Ziya Selçuk, according to a decree published on Aug. 6.

In the decision, it was stated that Selçuk's request for resignation was accepted.
Before Selçuk resigned, Özer was serving as his deputy.

Turkey brings back expats from Europe on eve of Ramadan
Turkey evacuated 337 citizens from the U.K. on April 20 on a special flight in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
At the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkey decided to bring back nearly 25,000 citizens before the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Death toll in traffic accidents across Turkey rises to 100 in 9th day of public holiday
The death toll from traffic accidents across Turkey rose to 100 on the 9th day of the extended 10-day long public holiday.
A total 439 people have been injured in road accidents during the same period.
A total of 14 people were killed and 55 were injured in road accidents on Sept. 3 alone, bringing the death toll across Turkey from 86 to 100 in one day.

Police detain 11 in anti-Gülen probe in Istanbul
