Mercedes announces investment decision
Another significant investment decision was announced by Mercedes-Benz in a press release on Feb. 10. Mercedes-Benz Türk has said the company plans to double the production capacity of its truck manufacturing facility in the Central Anatolian province of Aksaray with a 113-million-euro plan until 2018.

Toyota to begin hybrid car production in Turkey this year
Toyota Motor Corp will begin production of a new hybrid engine model based on the C-HR concept in Turkey by year-end with an investment of more than 350 million euros ($396 million), Toyota's chief executive of Europe, Johan van Zyl, said on Feb. 11, as reported by Reuters.
Writers meet at the British Council
The British Council will organize a meeting of celebrated writers from the United Kingdom and Turkey with their readers.
The first of these meetings will bring together Hanif Kureishi, the screenwriter of the movie "My Beautiful Laundrette," which was nominated for an Oscar award, and Murathan Mungan, another venerated writer, at the Pera Museum on Feb. 18.

Turkey's current account deficit narrows by $13.6 billion
Turkey's current account deficit narrowed by $13.6 billion last year largely thanks to low energy prices, the Central Bank said on Feb. 11.
The fall marked a continuation of deficit narrowing, after it dropped to $32.2 billion in 2015 from $45.8 billion in 2014.
Turkey's Fiba has not put Russian bank up for sale: Board member
The Fiba Group has not put its Russian banking unit Credit Europe Bank up for sale, Fiba board member Murat Özye?in said on Feb. 11, stressing that the company has "good relations" with the Russian government.
"We do not have any problems with Russia. We have not seen any pressure from Russia either. We are not planning to sell our banking unit," Özye?in said, as quoted by Reuters.

Do?an Holding has condemned armed attacks targeting the offices of two newspapers in Istanbul on early Feb. 11.
Do?an Holding Honorary Chairman Ayd?n Do?an and Hürriyet chair Vuslan Do?an Sabanc? called Akit Media Group CEO Mustafa Karahasano?lu and Yeni ?afak Publisher Ahmet Albayrak, condemning the attack and extending their concern at the events.

NATO shows support for migrant naval operation in Aegean: US
NATO is willing to support a German, Greek and Turkish request for help in monitoring Turkey's Aegean Sea coast for migrant smugglers, Pentagon chief Ashton Carter said Feb. 11.
"NATO and all the parties at the table this morning indicated a willingness for NATO to support and be a part of that operation," Carter said at the 28-nation alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
Istanbul police seize 13 aluminum bars
A total of 13 bars of unidentified material seized during a police operation on Jan. 11 in Istanbul have been determined to be pure aluminum, Turkish police said on Feb. 10.
Acting on a tip, Istanbul police searched a jewelry dealer's car on Jan. 11 in the city's Fatih district and seized 13 bars of an unidentified material.
