Albanian Telegraphic Agency: Albania, regional leader for attracting foreign investment
TIRANA, Feb 12 /ATA/ – The government’s pro-business climate reforms and its position as an important gateway for south-eastern European and Balkan countries have helped Albania to attract around 13 percent of the foreign investments volume in the region.
Foreign direct investments (FDI) to surpassed one billion dollars in 2017, while the FDI inflow is expected to be higher in 2018.
Albanians will Protest Against the "Drug-state"
The Albanian opposition will organize a mass protest against poverty, the economic crisis and problems in the judiciary on January 27th.
Leader of the opposition Democratic Party Ljuszim Basha urged all Albanians to join the protest. According to him, "Albania currently acts as a drug nation".

The ribbon-cutting ceremonial opening of the embassy was performed by the Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, and by Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nobuo Kishi, on Monday.

SETE: Greek tourism arrivals up, revenue down (graphs)
The Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) released its April data bulletin, according to which there was a divergence of tourism arrivals and revenues. The data, recorded by SETE Intelligence, revealed that the average daily spending by foreign tourists in Greece in 2016 stood at 67 euros, a drop in comparison to the 70-75 euros visitors had been steadily spending the previous years.

Albania is the main supplier nation of potential victims of modern slavery in the United Kindom, according to data from the National Referral Mechanism, NRM, the UK's framework for referring and supporting victims.
Albania supplies the highest number once the number of adult and children potential victims of modern slavery are combined, the NRM explained.

Sofia's MEPs Push for Bulgarian Rights in Albania
Bulgarian MEPs are pushing for the rights of Bulgarians allegedly living in eastern Albania to get onto the European agenda.
The issue of the community - whose existence Albania disputes - has been included in the European Parliament draft resolution on Albania, scheduled for debate on February 14, on the demand of Bulgarian MEPs.
