Arkas Holding

Arkas, which has undertaken the restoration of the historic Mattheys Mansion in İzmir, is now presenting a selection from the Arkas Carpet Collection at the Arkas Art Bornova Mattheys Mansion, which it opened inside the mansion as its fourth art center in the city.

The mansion is one of Bornova's mansions that stand out with its history and architecture.

Turkey is on its way to becoming a key hub for LNG supplies with cooperation from Turkey's largest public institution in the areas of energy, trade, transportation and storage, BOTAŞ, along with Arkas Bunkering and Sumitomo Corporation, according to Turkey's BOTAŞ on Sept. 8.

The exhibition "Landscapes of Water," which opened at İzmir's Arkas Art Center on Sept. 19, shows the sea at its best and its worst: Michael Zeno Diemer's view of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara calms and soothes, while Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky's "Stormy Sea" gives the spectator a sense of foreboding.

A remnant of İzmir's Franciscan heritage, the Catholic Church of Santa Maria stands modestly near the city's most famous church, Saint Polycarp. Ever since its construction in 1341, Santa Maria's sober building has shaken with several earthquakes and stood against a few city fires.

A retrospective exhibition by Hungarian-French artist Victor Vasarely began on Feb. 2 in Istanbul's Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center with the contributions of Arkas Holding. 

Vasarely is renowned as the "grandfather" and leader of the op art movement, a style of visual art that uses optical illusions. 

Travelers from French scientific missions to Anatolia brought back a sober and non-exoticized vision of the Orient during the 19th century. Now, the Arkas Art Center in İzmir is providing a glimpse at how sojourners saw the later Ottoman Empire.

Arkas Holding has said it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) to establish a Turkey-based joint venture to offer maritime transportation and logistics services across the Mediterranean Sea.
