Since its inception in 1992, Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria has been one of the major economic drivers in the country. With over 2,300 employees, two production plants, in Kostinbrod (soft drinks) and in Bankia (mineral water), seven distribution centers and BGN 84 million in taxes and fees paid to the government budget in 2018, the company continues to be a key contributor to the local economy.

 Investment projects in the northeastern region of Catalonia have been paralyzed and the sale of a stake in state-run lender Bankia put on hold because of the current political uncertainty, Spain's economy minister said on Thursday, Reuters reported.

Spanish authorities launched an investigation of former IMF chief Rodrigo Rato on allegations of fraud and money laundering.

Rato was taken from his home in Madrid on Thursday by officers from Spanish tax authorities, while police searched his home and office, the BBC reports.
