One dead, five injured in multiple workplace accidents in Turkey

One worker has died and five others have been injured in three separate workplace accidents in Turkey.

The deceased worker, identified as Ahmet Hamdi Özmercan, died at a hospital in the northwestern province of Edirne on Nov. 2 after he was severely injured when he became stuck under a caterpillar at a stone quarry in Edirne's Ke?an district.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos out for the year with shoulder injury

Bayer Leverkusen and Greece defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos is out until the end of the year with a shoulder injury.

The Bundesliga club says Papadopoulos had an operation late Monday. He was injured in the final practice before the team's departure for the Champions League match against Zenit St. Petersburg.

Olympiakos will face the champions of Spain, Italy and Sweden in the group stages of Europe's top soccer tournament, the Champions League.

Thursday's draw in Monaco was not particularly kind to the Greek champion but Olympiakos coach Michel insisted that his team could qualify for the next round.

Ranieri brings in new faces for his first Greece squad

New Greece coach Claudio Ranieri announced Wednesday a 24-man squad for the first Euro 2016 qualifier against Romania at home on September 7.

Earning a first time call up were Olympiakos 21-year-old striker Dimitris Diamantakos and Levante's 29-year-old defender Nikos Karabelas.

Ranieri left out six players who helped Greece make it to the World Cup last 16.
