MHP announces 55 more candidates for mayoral elections
The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has officially unveiled an additional 55 mayoral candidates to compete in eight provinces and 47 districts for the upcoming local elections on March 31.
This latest announcement on Jan. 11 brings the total number of MHP candidates to 110.
Probe launched into mayor’s anti-refugee remarks
A probe into the controversial remarks of Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who said he would propose to the northwestern province's municipal assembly a motion to charge a tenfold fee for the water bills and solid waste taxes of foreigners in reference to refugees who fled from Syria, has been launched.

Fire burns 100 hectares of forest in Turkey's Bolu to ash
A fire that erupted in the northwestern province of Bolu on Sept. 2 burned around 100 hectares of forest land to ash before being brought under control after two days, Bolu Director of Forestry Hasan Keskin stated on Sept. 5.
