Iraklio airport reopens to traffic after maintenance work
The flights to and from the Nikos Kazantzakis airport of Iraklio, Crete, that had been suspended due to maintenance work, restarted on Saturday, the Civil Aviation Authority said.
The first flight took place at 3 p.m.
Passenger traffic at Greek airports hits new highs in 2023
Passenger traffic at airports around the country jumped to a new record high in 2023, increasing 14% on the year before, the Civil Aviation Authority has said.
A total of 72.6 million passengers used Greece's airports in 2023, compared to 63.7 million in 2022 and 64.2 million in 2019.

Cycladic planned to connect six Cycladic islands, along with Rhodes and Crete, for this summer, but it will have to limit its activity to charter flights.
Covid test required for passengers from China
A negative coronavirus PCR or rapid test will be required of all air passengers traveling from China until January 31, Greece's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced in a notice to airmen (notam) on Monday.

Nepal mourns after plane crash kills at least 68
Nepal began a national day of mourning Monday, a day after a plane crashed while attempting to land at a newly opened airport, killing at least 68 of the 72 people aboard. Rescue workers rappelled down a 300-meter (984 feet) gorge to continue the search. Two more bodies have been found Monday morning.
