Demirören Group

Prominent Turkish industrialist and businessman Erdoğan Demirören, who was the founder of Demirören Holding, which is one of Türkiye's largest conglomerates, has been commemorated on the fifth anniversary of his death.

On June 8, 2018, Demirören lost his life in a hospital in Istanbul, where he received treatment for respiratory failure for a while at the age of 80.

The first education year in Demirören Media High School, a vocational school that will train young budding journalists who will be well-equipped with skills to work in the country's media sector, started on Sept. 12, with the first school bell ringing.

With wildfires ravaging Turkey, killing at least eight people and burning thousands of square meters of forests, the Turkish Forestry Ministry has announced that "new plantations will be made as the rain will start by the end of October."

Turkey's Demirören Holding has taken over Azerbaijan's national lottery company, Azerlotereya, at least for a period of 10 years in a signing ceremony held in Baku on Feb. 27.

Yelda Demirören, the daughter of Demirören Group chair Yıldırım Demirören, and Haluk Kalyoncu, the son of late businessman Hasan Kalyoncu, got married on April 13 in a massive ceremony at Istanbul's Çırağan Palace with the attendance of about 2,000 guests.
