Journalist arrested for domestic violence

A journalist was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for domestic violence. 

According to sources, the woman, also a journalist, went to a domestic violence unit in downtown Omonia, reporting that her partner had assaulted her.

The woman, visibly injured, provided a hospital report as evidence and is expected to be examined by a forensic doctor. 

Lighting sparks blaze in Corinthia on another hard day for the Fire Service

A bolt of lightning sparked a wildfire on a remote hillside in Lafka in Corinthia on Monday evening, state broadcaster ERT reported, saying the blaze started at around 6 p.m. in woodland.

Four water-dumping airplanes and two helicopters assisted crews on the ground until nightfall, as 30 firefighters continued to battle the blaze.

German hiker missing since Sunday found dead on Crete

A 67-year-old German hiker who was reported missing on Sunday in Crete has been found dead, the sixth tourist death in June during a period of unusually hot weather.

The man's body was found in a ravine near Sentoni beach, on a path heading towards Trypti Gorge, on the southern coast of the island, in Hania prefecture, according to state broadcaster ERT.

Three individuals accused of robbery and rape arrested in Achaia

Three individuals accused of robbery and rape were arrested by police officers on Sunday morning in the Achaia region of the Peloponnese.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the arrested individuals are accused of robbing a couple of farm workers from Vietnam last week at knifepoint. After taking 450 euros and two mobile phones, they allegedly raped the woman.

Woman’s burnt body found in Kythira

A badly burned body of woman was discovered on the island of Kythira, off the southeastern coast of the Peloponnese, on Thursday.

According to state broadcaster ERT, a lighter and a bottle with flammable liquid was found near the body, which has been identified by the woman's husband.

According to reports, the couple owned a souvenir shop on the island.
