US skiing champion Mikaela Shiffrin won the second of two giant slalom races in Slovenia's Kranjska Gora on 8 January for her 82nd World Cup career victory, matching the women's record held by her compatriot Lindsey Vonn.

The event usually takes place in Maribor but has been moved the second year running due to a lack of snow amid mild and wet weather.

As part of the event, attended by more than 150 representatives of European cities, capitals, and associations, active promotion of Maribor and Slovenia as a sports destination took place.
