Greece salutes its soldiers

President Katerina Sakellaropoulou honors Greece's Armed Forces Day with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens, marking the annual observance on November 21, which coincides with the Entrance into the Temple of the Virgin Mary. The day serves to recognize and commemorate the dedication of Greece's military forces to the nation, both in times of peace and war.

Greek PM hails most significant navy upgrade in decades

Kimon, the first of the three Belharra-class frigates built for the Hellenic Navy, to be delivered by June 2025, is docked at the shipyard of Naval group in Lorient, western France, on Thursday, during a visit by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The Greek prime minister also inspected the Nearchos and Formion frigates, which are slated for delivery in late 2025 and 2026, respectively.

An unexpected visit

Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou participated in the action of the Streetwork group of the Organization Against Drugs (OKANA) in central Athens on Monday. The team distributed safer use kits to drug users on the street as well as a Covid-19 personal protection kit, a snack and clothing.

Shops gear up for easing of restrictions

Shops on central Ermou Street in Athens are preparing to reopen in early May when the government intends to relax restrictions it imposed in mid-March to contain the spread of Covid-19. The new plan on how restrictions will be gradually eased will be announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis early next week, possibly on Monday.
