Firefighters battle blaze on Mt Pangaio
Firefighters in the northeast of the country are continuing to battle a fire that broke out in a remote forested area on a ridge of Mount Pangaio near Kavala.
A large contingent of 75 firefighters, four aircraft and a helicopter are attending the scene of the fire, which broke out Friday shortly after noon.

Record tourism revenue seen
Tourism revenue could reach a record €21 billion in 2023, a National Bank of Greece report estimates.
The final amount will certainly smash the record €18.17 billion receipts of 2019, the final year before the Covid-19 pandemic. While tourism recovered strongly in 2022, after two lean years, revenue, at €17.63 billion, fell short of a new record.

Coastal shipping companies announce discounts in ferry tickets
Coastal shipping companies on Thursday began offering ticket discounts of up to 50% on passenger ferries departing from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, Thessaloniki and Kavala, following a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis where they were asked to cut transport costs for the average Greek family.
Czech tourist dies on Thasos beach
A Czech tourist has died after collapsing on a beach on the northern Aegean island of Thasos, with eyewitnesses saying that it took 51 minutes for an ambulance to reach the scene.
The woman, who was aged between 45 and 50, is understood to have collapsed shortly after emerging from swim at Astrida beach, in the southern part of the island.

Ukrainian Plane with "Dangerous Cargo" Crashed near Kavala Greece
An An-12 plane of a Ukrainian airline carrying "dangerous" cargo crashed shortly before 11 p.m. last night in northern Greece near the town of Paleochori, about 40 km from Kavala.
