More than 6,000 passengers on the two cruise ships that “docked” today at the port of Thessaloniki -most of them Americans and Canadians, but also Britons and other Europeans. One hour earlier than its scheduled arrival, at 07:00, the cruise ship “Celestyal Infinity” arrived at the port of Thessaloniki from Kusadasi, Turkey, carrying 2,500 passengers and 1,000 crew members. It will depart at 19.30, with its next destination being Kavala.

The “Celebrity Infinity”, whose passengers were served by the “Macedonia” passenger station, dropped anchor for the 13th time today at the port of Thessaloniki and is the cruise ship that “kicked off” this year in the city on February 3. According to the schedule posted on the website of PPA (26/6), this cruise ship will visit the city a total of 21 times this year – for the last time on November 1, 2024, coming from Kavala and with the next stop Nafplio.

The “Celebrity Infinity” belongs to the fleet of Celebrity Cruises, is 294m long, 32.2m wide and was built in 2001, with luxurious cabins and suites and – among other things – restaurants with menus of international cuisines, a spa, club, wine bar, gyms, party and dance rooms, swimming pools, beauty centre, shopping and art galleries.

The “Norwegian Getaway”, the largest ship in length and passenger capacity that the port of Thessaloniki has welcomed to date, “tied up” outside the new cruise terminal “Alexander the Great” at 09.30 in the morning, coming from Piraeus and will depart at 18.30 with its next stop in Kusadasi, Turkey. The “Norwegian Getaway” of Norwegian Cruise Line has a length of 326 m, a width of 52 m, was built in 2014 and refurbished in 2020, while on this voyage it carries 4,500 passengers and 1,500 crew, according to the executive of “Kosmatos”.

According to the schedule posted on the website of PPA (26/6), the “Norwegian Getaway” will visit the city of Thessaloniki four more times this year, namely on 5/7 at 8 am from Piraeus and with a departure time of 16.00 for Izmir, as well as on 20/9 when she will perform the same itinerary and on 2/9 and 11/9, when she is expected to dock at 9.15 in the morning from Piraeus with the next stop in Istanbul, sailing from the waters of Thermaikos at 16.00.

It is recalled that confirmed cruise ship calls in Thessaloniki for this year amount to 82, with the last one on December 1 – up by 14 compared to 68 in 2023, when in 2022 they amounted to 61 and in 2021 to 17.

The next scheduled arrivals at the port of Thessaloniki include, on June 29, the cruise ship “MSC EXPLORA I”, expected at 08:00 in the morning from Volos and with a departure time of 20:00 for Kavala. On Sunday 30/6, the Celestyal Journey is expected in the port of the city at 10.30 in the morning, coming from Piraeus and with its next port of call being Kusadasi, Turkey, for which it will sail at 18.00.
