Turkey could scrap a controversial plan to buy missile defense systems from China that alarmed the United States and its Western allies, Turkish and European sources said on Nov. 12.
      

An Iranian copy of a U.S. reconnaissance drone captured in 2011 has taken its first flight, state news agency IRNA reported on Nov. 10.
   
In December 2011, Iran said it had captured a U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel reconnaissance drone in eastern Iran that had been reported lost by U.S. forces in neighbouring Afghanistan.
   

“We would like to get to a prototype (of a nuclear fusion reactor) in five generations,” said Dr. Thomas McGuire, the director of the Revolutionary Technology division at Lockheed Martin’s famed Skunk Works. “If we can meet our plan of doing a design-build-test generation every year, that will put us at about five years, and we’ve already shown we can do that in the lab.”

Turkey has resumed talks with France on purchasing a new missile system after negotiations on a controversial deal with a US-blacklisted Chinese company hit a rock, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was reported Sept. 7 as saying.
      

Aselsan, the leading Turkish defense systems producer, has climbed up on a list of the world’s top 100 defense giants, compiled by the prestigious U.S. weekly Defense News.

Based on 2013 figures, this year’s list ranks military electronics deem Aselsan 67th, compared to 74th last year.

Bulgaria's Government will decide on the future of the project for buying new fighter planes for the air forces in June, said Defense Minister Angel Naydenov.
