Hiring prospects seen improving in Q1

Greek employers expect an increase of hirings in almost all sectors of economic activity for the first quarter of 2023, with a peak in major infrastructure projects like the railway, innovation, logistics, renovations and investments of large foreign companies.

Rapid growth is anticipated in the IT sector, with northern Greece expected to absorb most hirings.

Human resources: Eight out of 10 employers in Greece find it difficult to find a workforce

Recruitment optimism has returned to pre-pandemic levels, with employers in 42 of the 43 countries surveyed by the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook (MEOS) reporting stronger recruitment prospects than last year.

The survey was conducted on more than 45,000 employers.

The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey is conducted quarterly to measure employers' intentions to increase or decrease the number of employees in their workforces during the next quarter. ManpowerGroup's comprehensive forecast of employer hiring plans has been running for more than 55 years and is one of the most trusted surveys of employment activity in the world.

A Slight Increase in the Employment by the End of the Year

The results of the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Survey show that 11% of 621 employers surveyed in Bulgaria expect to increase employment levels in the next three months, 5% predict a reduction in staffing and 4% are uncertain about their plans for employment until 80% are considering changing their current workforce between October and December.

The domestic labor market paradox

The jobless rate may remain steadily above 20 percent in Greece, but six out of 10 employers say they are finding it difficult to find the right staff for some of their job openings, according to the annual international report on the problem of a lack of people with the right skills that ManpowerGroup conducted for 2018.
