Air fresheners intended for the salons and toilets of recently imported passenger railroad cars from Germany were reported stolen upon their arrival at a Bulgarian depot, according to Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeikov in an interview with bTV. The minister expressed dismay over the incident, describing it as tragic rather than humorous.

Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) has declared a significant adjustment in train ticket prices, citing a sharp surge in the company's expenses over recent years. According to the press center of the national railway carrier, the price hike, averaging 20%, is scheduled to take effect from May 7.

A transformative project is underway in Burgas, Bulgaria, as plans for a city railway to link the Central Railway Station with Burgas Airport are on track for completion by the end of 2024. Trains of Bulgarian Railways (BDZ) will be equipped with a security system of the latest generation, reports the Ministry of Transport. On-board devices for the safe operation of 89 trains are to be purchased, of which 64 are for BDZ. According to Minister Georgi Gvozdeikov, the implementation of the ERTMS system is "an important step to ensure greater safety of rail transport".

The stormy south wind blew away part of the roof of the Council of Ministers, while the presentation of the report on the work done by the caretaker government of Galab Donev was underway in the building, "24 Chasa" reports.

The wind has detached part of the sheet metal facade of the building. A fire brigade team arrived in an emergency and immediately began repairs.

Parliament has liberalized the rail passenger transport market after adopting amendments to the Railways Act on Friday, on second reading.

 Since 6.12 am, train traffic between the stations of Yakoruda and Belitsa has been suspended after earth-rock mass fell on the railway tracks and then a passenger train, Septemvri-Dobrinishte, hit into it, the National Railway Infrastructure Company said. After the crash the locomotive was derailed with the first carriage.
