Cash-strapped Britons are being advised to head for Bulgaria this summer, after a survey declared Bulgaria's Sunny Beach resort the winner among 42 destinations in terms of value for money.

Checks on compliance with beach rules have strong public support. 81% of Bulgarian citizens approve inspections, while only 15% are against. According to data from Gallup International's express poll,  conducted among 800 adult Bulgarians through a panel methodology that allows national representation of the data, the agency said.

Hotel managers, members of the Union of Owners in Sunny Beach, requested an urgent working meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and representatives of all institutions involved with Bulgarian tourism. This became clear from a letter to the media from the Union of Owners in the resort, reported bTV. 

Over 500 workers from the summer resort started protesting. Reports BTV.

Valeri Simeonov, deputy prime minister in charge of the economy and the social sector from the nationalist United Patriots coalition, who staged a series of nocturnal raids on noisy discos in Sunny Beach at the weekend, warned on Monday that he will extend his personal crackdown to other tourist resorts.

''National resorts are the image of Bulgarian tourism and we have to be very careful about how we present this image.'' This was announced by the Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova during his visit in sea capital of Bulgaria - Varna, reported iNews. 

Five people have been detained by police this night in Sunny Beach after a scandal between members of a suspicious groups.

The conflict arose because of the turnover of a bar, the police said.

n the resort of Slanchev Bryag, known internationally as Sunny Beach, tourism is booming. Because of the risk of terrorism in travel destinations such as Turkey and Egypt, Bulgaria has established itself as an alternative option, says Deusche Welle.

Bulgaria ranked together with Portugal and Japan as one of the most preferred destinations for tourism by the British for 2017, showed a survey of Holiday Barometer carried out by Royal Mail every year.

The survey shows that, in 2017, Sunny Beach will be the second cheapest resort which can be visited by UK citizens.

Bulgaria's Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach remains the best value-for-money holiday destination for British tourists in 2016 for the third straight year, a new survey has shown.

"Cheap local prices in the 10 best value resorts in Europe have cushioned the impact of sterling's slide," the 10th annual UK Post Office Travel Money Holiday Costs Barometer has found.
