Crowds of tourists gathered in downtown Manhattan with enhanced security measures to light the lights of New York's largest Christmas tree.
The tree is 23 meters high and weighs over 12 tonnes. At its top is a star with 25,000 Swarovski crystals and its decoration includes 50,000 lights.
Swarovski opens manufacturing plant in northern town
A new manufacturing plant of Austrian company Swarovski was opened in Subotica, northern Serbia, on Thursday.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who attended the ceremony, said that the government's investment in this plant amounting to EUR 2.75 million means "investing in the future of Serbia, Subotica and all our citizens."

Swarovski to open plant in Subotica
BELGRADE - Austrian group Swarovski will open a new plant in Subotica, which will exert influence on other major world investors to include Serbia in the list of potential investment destinations, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Marko Cadez said on Friday.
