Germany's cutting arms sales to Turkey boosts our defense firms, Turkish FM says

Freezing Germany's weapons exports to Turkey would only strengthen the local Turkish arms industry, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Sept. 12. 

Çavuşoğlu was responding to remarks by his German counterpart, Sigmar Gabriel, who said Sept. 11 that Berlin was putting most arms exports to Turkey "on hold" due to recent bilateral tensions. 

Turkey's indigenous trainer aircraft makes maiden flight abroad at Paris Air Show

The Hürkuş, an indigenous basic trainer aircraft built by Tusaş Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), made its first public flight abroad at the Paris Air Show on June 19, the TAI has said in a statement. 

A number of top local and foreign officials, including Defense Minister Fikri Işık, watched the six-minute international appearance of Hürkuş. 

Turkey's TAI says signs $292 million deal with Spirit Aero

The Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has announced the signing of a $292 million production deal with aircraft parts maker Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc.

TAI said in the May 26 statement that the deal was an extension until 2023 of its existing agreement to produce Boeing 737 MAX and LTA parts for Spirit Aero.
