Türkiye aims to draw more tourists from Asia: Minister
Türkiye aims to attract more tourists from Asian countries, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has said, adding that the target is to become one of the top three tourist destinations in the world.
The Asian markets are now on Türkiye's radar, Ersoy said. "We are working on a joint project with Turkish Airlines for the markets we want to grow fast," the minister added.
Severe turbulence injures THY crew member on domestic flight
A Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to İzmir encountered severe turbulence, causing significant injury to a cabin crew member.
The Airbus A321 aircraft hit turbulence shortly after the pilot's warning to fasten seat belts prior to a sudden altitude loss.
Turkish Airlines posts $226 mln profit in first quarter
Turkish Airlines' (THY) financials have shown that the flag carrier made a net profit of $266 million in the first quarter of 2024.
Total revenues grew 9.6 percent in the January-March period to reach $4.77 billion, with passenger revenue rising 4.8 percent to $3.82 billion.
Cargo revenues amounted to $750 million in the first quarter, up 27 percent from a year earlier.

More than 100 Turkish hoteliers and tourism agencies flocked to the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai this week as Türkiye seeks to attract more holidaymakers from the Middle Eastern countries.
Turkish Airlines carries nearly 26 million passengers in January-April
The number of passengers Turkish Airlines carried in the first four months of 2024 increased by 8 percent from a year ago to 25.94 million.
The international passenger tally rose by 6.1 percent annually to 16.3 million, while domestic passengers were up 11.5 percent to 9.2 million.
Fenerbahçe earns Euroleague Final Four spot
Fenerbahçe Beko became the first-ever team to win a Game 5 as the road team to make to the 2024 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four, by beating Monaco 80-79 on May 8 night.
Having last made it to the Final Four in 2019, Fenerbahçe will play a semifinal match in Berlin against Panathinaikos on May 24, when Real Madrid takes on Olympiacos in the other semifinal.

Turkish Airlines to launch Denver flights in June
Turkish Airlines is preparing to start flights from Istanbul to Denver in mid-June that will bring the number of destinations the flag carrier flies to the U.S. to 14.
There will be three weekly flights between Istanbul and Denver, starting on June 11, while the flight frequency between the two cities is planned to be increased to four in July.
