Family members embroiled in dispute over 150-year-old brand
In a long-standing trademark battle for the famous 155-year-old Istanbul's Vefa Bozacısı, which sells traditional fermented beverage, one of the heirs has filed a new lawsuit claiming that the word "Vefa" cannot be registered as a trademark as it is a neighborhood name.
Even well-off people are calling social support groups
Even some well-off people call help lines to seek support from the authorities amid the coronavirus outbreak, said Bilal Yıldız, the head of the social solidarity foundation operating in the Avcılar district, adding that those people's requests are tantamount to the abuse of the system.
Over 60,000 return home following quarantine
More than 60,000 people in Turkey have completed their mandatory 14-day quarantine period at designated student dormitories, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said on May 11.
The agency said that since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, 70,672 people across 77 provinces have been quarantined. Most of them had returned from abroad.

Istanbul mosque opens doors to needy amid COVID-19
An imam at a mosque in Istanbul opened the facility's doors to those in need of food and basic cleaning products amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The move was done in collaboration with Vefa Social Support Groups, which have been working in Turkey to deliver aid to those in need.
