Turkey has to adapt to new normal: Presidential spokesperson

The normalization process will not be about abandoning measures all together but we have to adapt to the new normal, Turkey's presidential spokesperson said on May 23. 

"We need to get used to living with masks. Turkey will go down to history when this coronavirus pandemic is over and it is written down," Ibrahim Kalın said on local television station NTV.

40 civilians, including children, killed in YPG/PKK attack in Afrin

At least 40 civilians, including 11 children, were killed on April 28 in a YPG/PKK terrorist attack in northwestern Syria, Turkey's Defense Ministry said.

At least 47 others were also wounded in the attack in the Afrin city center carried out using a bomb-rigged fuel tanker, the ministry said in a tweet.

138,000 quarantined amid coronavirus outbreak: Interior minister

Turkey has quarantined a total of 138,000 citizens nationwide as part of measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the country's interior minister said on April 9.

Of these, 122,500 are quarantined at 180 locations nationwide, while the others are staying in dormitories, said Süleyman Soylu.

Turkey neutralizes 18 YPG/PKK terrorists in N Syria

The Turkish army "neutralized" 18 YPG/PKK terrorists attempting to infiltrate northern Syrian territories, the National Defense Ministry said on March 9.

"Our heroic commandos neutralized 18 PKK/YPG terrorists trying to infiltrate the southern area of the [Operation] Peace Spring region," said the ministry on Twitter.

US, Russia compete for approval on Twitter amid Idlib crisis

As tensions continue to rise in the last Syrian rebel bastion of Idlib, Russia and the United States are now battling, in Turkish, on an unprecedented turf: Twitter.

The U.S. Embassy in Ankara posted a video on its Twitter account with the caption "Eyes on Idlib."

The video's message voiced solidarity with Turkey and said the U.S. will "use its power for peace in Syria."

Turkish defense chief holds talks at NATO amid Idlib tensions

Scores of Syrian regime elements were "neutralized" on Feb. 12 in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib, the Turkish Defense Ministry has said.

"According to information conveyed by several sources in Idlib region, it has been learned that 55 regime elements were neutralized today," said the statement.

YPG/PKK terrorist on wanted list neutralized

A wanted YPG/PKK terrorist was neutralized in a counter-terrorism operation in eastern Turkey, the country's Interior Ministry's said on Feb. 8.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralized" to imply that the terrorist in question either surrendered or was killed or captured.

Terrorist Ömer Oran, also known as Bager, was on the ministry's most wanted list.
