UNICEF: 1.4 million childern could die from famine
Almost 1.4 million children suffering from severe malnutrition could die this year from famine in Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen, the UN children’s agency said Monday.
In Yemen, where war has been raging for nearly two years, 462,000 children are suffering from acute malnutrition while 450,000 children are severely malnourished in northeast Nigeria.

Turkey to change curriculum of former Gülen schools abroad
Significant changes will soon be made to the curriculum of Turkish schools abroad, which have been taken over from the network of Fethullah Gülen, the U.S. based preacher widely believed to have orchestrated the July 2016 coup attempt, according to the chairman of the Maarif (Education) Foundation.
Turkey, Qatar, Sudan defense ministers meet in Khartoum
Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Işık traveled to the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Jan. 8 to hold talks with his Sudanese and Qatari counterparts.
The three defense ministers also attended the opening of the Soor factory in Khartoum that will produce military uniforms for the Sudanese army.
Turkish foundation to take over Gülenist schools in Sudan
Two schools in Sudan linked to the network of U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gülen, the main suspect in the probes into the July 15 coup attempt, will be taken over by a Turkish educational foundation in line with a protocol signed earlier between Khartoum and Ankara, a Turkish diplomat told Anadolu Agency on Dec. 1.
