The year 2024 has been a landmark year for Christos Mouzakitis. The 17-year-old footballer has had a standout season, winning the Youth League, earning a spot on Olympiacos’ senior team, and making his debut for Greece’s National Team yesterday (November 17) against Finland in the Nations League.

According to the results of the Open Doors 2024 survey, as published annually by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a record number of American students choosing Greece as a study abroad destination.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent the message that Greece’s government majority is stable and that holding elections in 2027 is a personal commitment, during a discussion with journalist Francine Lacqua on Monday afternoon, as part of a Bloomberg event titled “The New Era of Greek Banking.”

Approximately half a million people in Greece suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, the most prevalent respiratory illness, but the majority are unaware of their condition. 

The issue was highlighted by the Hellenic Thoracic Society ahead of World COPD Day, this Wednesday. 

Greece's main labor unions have called for a general strike on Wednesday to protest the rising cost of living and demand better wages and collective agreements.

Between 2.1% and 2.9% will be inflation in Greece over the three-year period 2024-2026, with structural inflation (excluding food and energy) at 2.5% to 3.4% over the same period, according to the “Inflation Monitor” which published today by the Bank of Greece.

It takes around eight months to complete a house purchase in Greece, while in Italy it takes 120 days and in Cyprus only up to four days.

Issuing a property identification number without the competent authorities having been digitized is the biggest problem.

Greece plans to repay at least €5 billion ($5.3 billion) in bailout loans by 2025, well ahead of their scheduled maturities between 2033 and 2042, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has said.

"We've been ruthlessly focused on fiscal discipline," Mitsotakis told a Bloomberg event in Athens on Monday. "It's an indication of the confidence we have in our public finances."

“The amendment to the contract of donation for the construction of the new wing of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Centre will be debated tomorrow, Tuesday 19 November, in the plenary session of the Parliament. This amendment increases the amount of the donation to 82 million euros, from the originally planned amount of 70 million euros.

The Hellenic Navy has extended a series of naval exercises for the sixth time, granting an additional four-month extension as Athens seeks to prevent the transportation of Russian oil off its coastlines.
