Ryanair to cut capacity at Berlin airport citing high access costs
Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has said it would cut 20% of its traffic at Berlin-Brandenburg airport, making good on threats to reduce its presence in the German capital due to some of the highest location charges in Europe.

In July, annual inflation in the Eurozone increased slightly to 2.6%, up from 2.5% in June. For the entire European Union, inflation reached 2.8%, rising from 2.6% the previous month, according to Eurostat.
Ukrainian Forces Advance in Kursk as Drone Attack Sparks Fire in Voronezh
A fire erupted in Voronezh following a Ukrainian drone strike, with the Voronezh Malshevo believed to have been targeted. Ukrainian army commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that the advance into Russian territory southwest of Kursk is progressing. Kyiv recently reported control over more than 74 settlements in the Kursk region.
R&D spending in decline
State spending on research and development declined in Greece in 2023, bucking European trends, Eurostat data gleaned from the member-states' budgets and released Tuesday show.
When one considers spending per capita, Greece ranks quite low among EU states, although it outranks Lithuania, Poland, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Latvia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania.

Tourists Hit with Exorbitant Medical Fees at Golden Sands: 1,500 Leva for Simple Examination
A family from Lithuania paid nearly 1,500 leva (750 euros) for an examination and treatment for their 9-year-old daughter at a private medical practice in the "Golden Sands" resort near Varna. While not illegal, as these are commercial entities that can set their own prices, the fees must be advertised so patients are aware. The Lithuanian family claims they were unaware of the cost.

Switzerland's Locarno Film Festival opens tomorrow with Shah Rukh Khan, Jane Campion, Alfonso Cuaron and Irene Jacob set to be honored with special awards.
Founded in 1946, Locarno is one of the world's longest-running annual film festivals and focuses on auteur cinema.

Serbia men's 3x3 basketball team knocked out of Paris Olympics
PARIS - The Serbia men's national 3x3 basketball team has been knocked out of the Paris Olympic Games by losing 22-19 to hosts France in a semi-final play-in game on Sunday evening.
Strahinja Stojacic scored eight points for Serbia, Mihailo Vasic and Dejan Majstorovic each added four and Marko Brankovic had three points.
Bulgaria Invests 1.5 Million in Social Media Tourism Campaign
The Ministry of Tourism is allocating 1.5 million leva for Bulgaria's presence and advertising on major social networks. This initiative was announced by Acting Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev during a parliamentary committee hearing in response to a query from MP Vyara Todeva of "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB).

Vucic speaks with Scholz in London ahead of Belgrade meeting
LONDON - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday in London at the opening of the fourth European Political Community summit.
"A cordial meeting with Olaf Scholz. We will see each other in Belgrade soon," Vucic wrote in an Instagram post.
