Police official interviewed

BELGRADE - A police official from the section for special investigative methods of the Inteior Ministry department of criminal police has been interviewed at the Office of the Prosecutor for Organized Crime as part of a preliminary investigation related to the Lazarevic case, Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic has told Tanjug.

"The official was interviewed on Thursday, following additions to the criminal charges submitted to the prosecutor's office by the department of criminal police, so the preliminary investigation for disclosing confidential information now includes a total of 4 people," Radisavljevic explained.

This preliminary investigation is part of an earlier procedure against the criminal organization of Darko Saric, who is accused of cocain trafficking and money laundering, he said.

After the interview, which included his legal representative, the suspect was released.

Considering his defence during the interview, it has been decided there is no need for his detention, Radisavljevic stated.

The preliminary investigation will continue by taking further actions to find evidence, he pointed out.

The criminal charges the prosecutor's office received from the department of criminal police say that Lazarevic, as former head of cabinet of Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, and two other people were suspected of joining together to commit crimes and disclose classified information.

The police officer from the section for special investigative methods is suspected only of disclosing classified information.
