Local elections for municipalities and regions will be consistently held on the last Sunday of November. The reforms, introduced by Minister Thodoris Livanios at the KEDE (Central Union of Greek Municipalities) conference in Rhodes, are intended to modernize local government.

46 migrants found dead in abandoned trailer in San Antonio
Forty-six people were found dead in a sweltering tractor-trailer that was abandoned on a remote back road in San Antonio in what marked the latest tragedy to claim the lives of migrants smuggled across the border from Mexico to the U.S. Sixteen people were hospitalized, including four children.

Mayors of Small Settlements in Bulgaria Insist on having their own Budget
The mayors of small settlements insist that they be elected by direct choice rather than being appointed as they are now. Now mayors are elected only in places with a population of more than 350 people, and in the smaller ones they are appointed.
