Controlled explosion to take place on Monday at base in Glyfada

Residents of the southern Athenian suburb of Glyfada are advised to avoid the area around the Hellenic Air Force base on Monday, as a controlled bomb explosion will take place between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Bomb experts will be detonating a World War II shell that was discovered during digging near the base's outer wall.

Residents in the vicinity are also advised to keep their windows open and their shutters closed between those hours in order to avoid any possible damage.
