PM Ponta attends Social Democrat leaders meeting in Paris on Saturday on President Hollande's invitation
Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who heads the Social Democrat Party (PSD) will attend a meeting of the European Social Democrat leaders in Paris on Saturday on an invitation of French President Francois Hollande, with the participants seeking to coordinate positions on the designation of the European institution leaders as well as swap views of the recent developments in the Eastern Neighbourhood, with emphasis on the situation in Ukraine, the Government's Press Office has announced on Friday.
Expected to also attend the meeting are the prime ministers of Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel and European Parliament President Martin Schulz.
'The agenda of the talks will target the coordination of the positions on the process of designating the leadership of the European institutions, mainly naming the president of the European Council, the High Representative and the Eurogroup president as well as the proposals for the European Commission College. The attending leaders will also swap views of the recent developments in the Eastern Neighbourhood, with emphasis on the situation in Ukraine and on other areas as well', the release said.
