Slovenia’s Kolektor wins another road deal in Croatia

Zagreb – A consortium of the Slovenian company Kolektor CPG and Italy’s ICM has won the public tender in Croatia to construct a by-pass road in the coastal town of Novi Vinodolski, the national motorway company Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) confirmed for the STA on Monday.

The by-pass road that is expected to relieve the local road during the summer season is part of the future Kvarner Bay section of the Zagreb-Split motorway between Rijeka and Žuta Lokva.

The HAC said that the bid by Kolektor CPG and ICM, worth around EUR 63 million, had been the most favourable among the six bids.

The by-pass road will be 9.8 kilometres long, 6.5 kilometres of which is part of the future motorway and the remaining 3.3 kilometres a connection with the Adriatic road near Novi Vinodolski, south east of Rijeka.

The work on the project includes a 834-metre tunnel and a 1,062-metre viaduct, which will be 40 metres high at certain points. The deadline for the completion is 36 months.

A consortium featuring Kolektor CPG, Croatia’s GP Krk and Bosnia’s Euroasfalt is also building a EUR 61 million road connecting the container terminal of the port of Rijeka with the western part of the local by-pass road.
