Dacic to visit Latvia to discuss accession talks and OSCE
BELGRADE - Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic will visit Latvia on Wednesday, where he will meet with some top officials of that country, which is set to take of the Presidency of the EU on January 1.
During the visit to the capital, Riga, Dacic will also meet with Latvia's Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma, Parliament Speaker Inara Murniece and Foreign Minister Esgars Rinkevics, according to a release from the Serbian Foreign Ministry.
The meetings with Latvian officials will focus in particular on improving the relations between the two countries, their economic cooperation, the accession talks between the Eu and Serbia and the priorities of Serbia's upcoming chairmanship of the OSCE.
The visit to Latvia is particularly important since the country will hold the Presidency of the EU in the first half of 2015, when the opening of the first chapters of the accession talks with Serbia is expected, according to the release.
