Greece's Finance Ministry rushed to assuage concerns over the numerous handouts and tax cuts announced by the government in the run-up to the country's elections, after the European Commission expressed fears over a possible fiscal derailment.

Greece and its creditors are working on reaching a final deal next week on the country exiting its international bailout this summer, the European Commission's vice president said Thursday, adding that the bailout exit was "delicate yet perfectly doable."

The Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday that Minister Euclid Tsakalotos will receive European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis at his office in Athens at 11.30 a.m. on Friday.

The meeting will be followed by a press conference.

After eight years, Greece emerged on Wednesday from the European Commission's process for countries with excessive deficit.
