SVM ready to take over share of work, responsibilities

NOVI SAD - Leader of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) Istvan Pasztor stated on Saturday that the party is ready to take over its share of work and responsibilities in the new government and added that he would confer with leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic on Monday, April 7.

Pasztor told Tanjug that he communicated with Vucic late on Friday but is still waiting for a confirmation of the time and place of the meeting.

Pasztor said that he will voice no special requests during the meeting with Vucic but he also stated that he would like to see a part of the SVM programme included in the future government programme.

The SVM leader said that he is familiar with the basic outlines of the future government programme.
“These are the outlines imposed by everyday life and whoever may the future prime minister be, he cannot avoid tackling these problems,” Pasztor said and added that here he is primarily referring to ensuring macroeconomic stability and reorganisation of the entire Serbian society because turning a blind eye to problems is no longer an option.

“According to the results scored in the recent elections, we are the third most influential political force in Vojvodina and we won more votes than the coalition led by Boris Tadic and the Democratic Party,” Pasztor said.

When asked how the party sees Vucic's decision to confer with SVM first in connection to the constitution of the future government coalition, Pasztor said that Vucic knows best why he made the decision but it is in any case recognition for SVM.
