He criticized the current government and emphasized the need for an open, participatory process in the election of PASOK’s leadership. He stressed that PASOK must once again become a driving force for change and not just a better manager of the status quo.

Evangelos Venizelos, another former leader, proposed updating the party’s founding declaration to reflect today’s challenges. He emphasized that PASOK should focus on presenting a new social contract and a comprehensive plan for the country, without fear of specific reactions or trying to maintain neutral stances.

The upcoming debate and the direct engagement with citizens were seen as crucial parts of the election process for the leadership candidates, with a strong focus on areas where PASOK has traditionally had a strong presence.
