Weather: The week starts with rain and a drop in temperature – Which areas are affected
Winter preview….the week begins with meteorologists forecasting rain, a drop in temperature, and some snow, while in the coming days, intense rain is expected in Athens and Thessaloniki.
Sakis Arnaoutoglou also mentions a weather change, noting that “caution is needed on Wednesday (13/11)” with significant rainfall, possibly even in Attica, and intense local phenomena. He refers to a cold air mass invasion by Tuesday (12/11) that will pass through Northern Greece. In the mountainous areas, the temperature is expected to drop significantly, it will be cold in central areas, and the rest of the regions will experience cool weather.
On Wednesday (13/11), weather phenomena will expand across almost the entire country, with particularly intense effects in some areas (mainly in Western Greece), and they will also extend to Thessaloniki and Athens.
According to a post by Weather Analysis Greece, a Facebook page dedicated to weather forecasts, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the triangle area of Zakynthos-Kefalonia-Achaia is expected to experience the most intense phenomena, as a stable storm core is predicted to form over this region.

Furthermore, the storm core seems to extend south of Thessaly and north of Central Greece, which the page points out as “concerning”.
See the post from Weather Analysis Greece:
“Taking a detailed look, it seems that between Tuesday and Thursday, a rather stationary storm core will develop in the triangle of Zakynthos-Kefalonia-Achaia. Unfortunately, the situation looks very concerning; this triangle may face serious problems due to heavy rainfall. Keep this in mind for those reading from these areas, and I will provide updates. This core will ‘spread’ south of Thessaly and north of Central Greece, where significant rainfall is also expected.”
Mainly in the Ionian Sea – Light snow at high altitudes
Good news for rain lovers comes from meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas, who in a recent post talks about a “temporary weather change,” with rain mostly affecting the Ionian Islands and the western mainland parts, with light snow in very high altitudes over the next two days.
There will be fewer weather phenomena in eastern Greece, while temperatures will return to normal for the season by Tuesday.

George Tsatrafillias: “Continued drought for some areas”
In a recent post, meteorologist George Tsatrafillias lists all the areas that will not receive rain in the coming days, referring to a “drought nightmare.”
He specifically notes:
“Continued drought for some areas…
Good morning!
- As we mentioned earlier, rain will finally occur from Monday to Thursday, mainly in Western Greece. However, some areas seem to continue facing the drought nightmare (or will not experience significant rain).
- These include: Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Evia, Attica, Thessaloniki, Boeotia, eastern and northeastern Peloponnese, Cyclades, Dodecanese, northern and eastern Aegean, central and eastern Crete.”
