Weather: Which areas of Greece will be “dressed in white”

This year’s Christmas will be “white”, in many areas of the country, as snow showers are expected in some places starting Monday night, December 23, and Tuesday morning.

According to the latest forecast data from meteo.gr / EAA, snowfall is expected to occur in mountainous parts of the mainland and Crete, as well as in areas of Western Macedonia and Epirus with lower altitude.

The forecast map shows the geographical distribution and estimated cumulative snow depth in the country until the end of Tuesday 24/12.

According to meteorologist, Klearchos Marousakis, the reason for this change in the weather landscape is due to an organised barometric low from northwestern Europe, which has reached our country and is accompanied by polar air masses. By Monday evening, thunderstorms will have broken out as far as the islands of the eastern Aegean and snowfall will follow in the mountainous areas of the country.
