DS: SNS continues fight against imaginary enemies
BELGRADE - The opposition Democratic Party (DS) has stated on Sunday that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) is leading a fight against "imaginary enemies", noting that the party's claims that Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS), instead of being a national broadcasting service, is serving as a platform for attacks on SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic are unbelievable.
"This casts a serious doubt that there is another RTS in Serbia that only SNS leaders see, as the only thing all other citizens of Serbia could see on the national broadcasting service for two years now has been a promotion of the Serbian government, the SNS, Aleksandar Vucic himself and everything that the government is pursuing as its policy," the release notes.
The DS points to a completely uncritical approach to Vucic's work, who served as Serbia's first deputy prime minister in the last two years, as during that period the RTS program was marked by a discrepancy between airtime allocated to those backing the government policy and those criticizing it.
"It is evident that since it has secured a commanding majority, the SNS has furthered its intention to control all media and continues a fight against imaginary friends," the DS noted.
The SNS was the leading party of the ruling majority formed after the 2012 spring elections, and then in the early parliamentary elections on March 16, the party swept 158 seats in the 250-member parliament. On Sunday, the National Assembly is due to elect a new coalition government with Vucic as prime minister.
