Nationalist Alliance Patriotic Front to Keep Supporting Bulgaria's Government

Nationalist formation the Patriotic Front (PF) has made clear that it will continue to back the government.

Velari Simeonov, Co-Chair of PF, announced at a press conference in Parliament that the coalition was pleased with the developments on five of the seven points PF had brought up one month ago in their ultimatum to the government.

Simeonov underscored, however, that the PF would keep pressuring the government to fulfill their conditions that were included in the government program endorsed by center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), right-wing formation the Reformist Bloc, the Patriotic Front, and the center-left Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV).

He said that the progress in the sphere of combating petty crime and handling power prices was dissatisfying.

Simeonov, as cited by dnevnik.bg, noted that the PF would closely follow the achievements in these spheres over the next three months.

He argued that the postponement by one month of the power price hike would not solve the problems in the sector related to electricity theft.

The Co-Chair of PF insisted that electricity prices were not supposed to go up for at least three months so that the authorities could implement measures to curb the fraud schemes plaguing the sector.

He said that the nationalist formation had also prepared a bill against the abuse of the two US-owned thermal power plants in the Maritsa basin, AES 3C Maritza East 1 and ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3, adding that abuses of the two TPPs had caused damage worth BGN 1.2 B, according to an analysis presented to the PF.
