Nikolic meets with EASA president
BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic conferred in Belgrade on Tuesday with President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) Felix Unger.
President Nikolic said in the talks that the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) has faced numerous challenges, but always served the people providing them with better living conditions and connections with the rest of the world, the president's press service released in a statement.
SANU is one of Serbia's symbols, and many renowned people were its members. I am particularly pleased that you have visited SANU since that indicates that you view the institution as part of your organization, the Serbian president said.
Unger informed Nikolic about the work of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, stressing that the Academy attaches special importance to its cooperation with SANU.
Unger called on President Nikolic to accept the honorable office of Academy's protector so as to promote Serbia as part of Europe and send a message of peace and tolerance to the entire world, the statement reads.
