One soldier killed in PKK attack in Diyarbak?r

One soldier was killed on Jan. 17 in an attack by outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the Sur district of southeastern Diyarbak?r province.

PKK militants opened fire on Turkish security forces with long-barreled weapons during an operation supported by the gendarmerie in the curfew-declared Cevatpa?a, Fatihpa?a, Dabano?lu, Has?rl?, Cemal Y?lmaz and Sava? neighborhoods in Sur.

One soldier was heavily wounded during the clashes and later succumbed to his injuries at the Diyarbak?r Military Hospital despite all rescue efforts.
