7 security officers, two civil servants killed in one day during PKK attacks
Seven members of security officials, including a captain, as well as two civil servants were killed in attacks by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey's southeastern districts on Feb. 9.

The latest attack occurred after security forces spotted around 10 PKK militants attempting to infiltrate Turkish territory at 6:30 p.m.

Two soldiers were wounded, one severely, as clashes erupted between security forces from the Cizre/Yüzsüren border patrol and the infiltrating militants.
The Turkish Armed Forces released a statement on Feb. 10 about the attack, announcing that one of the soldiers was killed.
Soldier dies in hospital
"The wounded soldiers were transferred to a hospital, but despite all efforts our heavily wounded comrade-in-arms could not be saved," the statement said, adding that the soldier succumbed to his wounds at 9:30 p.m.
The identity of the soldier was not disclosed. Another soldier was killed in clashes that erupted during an operation against PKK militants in Diyarbak?r's Sur district.
The soldier, identified by Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency as gendarmerie captain Fatih Ya?ar, succumbed to his wounds at Diyarbak?r Military Hospital at 11:45 p.m., according to another official statement by the Armed Forces.
