An Istanbul court on June 17 ordered the arrest of Ömer Faruk Kavurmacı, the son-in-law of Istanbul mayor Kadir Topbaş, and former Istanbul police chief Hüseyin Çapkın on June 17 for the second time after they had been previously arrested over links to the Gülen movement blamed on the July 2016 failed coup attempt.

An Istanbul court on June 16 issued a fresh arrest warrant for Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş's son-in-law Ömer Faruk Kavurmacı, whose swift release triggered outrage from the public.

Politicians and social media users have lambasted an Istanbul court after it ordered the release of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbaş's son-in-law Ömer Faruk Kavurmacı, who was previously detained in a probe into the Gülenist movement due to health problems.

An Istanbul court ordered the release of three generals and an admiral early on Oct. 14, marking the first release of high-ranking soldiers as part of the ongoing investigation into the failed coup attempt of July 15.

An Istanbul court has ordered the confiscation of the latest issue of Nokta magazine on the grounds that it "incites crime" due its cover, less than two months after it was first confiscated for "insulting the president." The magazine's editor-in-chief and chief news editor have been arrested. 

Daily Hürriyet has expressed its serious concerns regarding freedom of the press, as well as the right to property and free enterprise, in an editorial Oct. 28 following a move to seize control of Koza ?pek Holding, which has interests in the media and other sectors.

Writing in an editorial that was published on Oct. 28, daily Hürriyet said:
