Court re-arrests Istanbul mayor's son-in-law, former police chief over Gülen links

An Istanbul court on June 17 ordered the arrest of Ömer Faruk Kavurmacı, the son-in-law of Istanbul mayor Kadir Topbaş, and former Istanbul police chief Hüseyin Çapkın on June 17 for the second time after they had been previously arrested over links to the Gülen movement blamed on the July 2016 failed coup attempt.

Turkish magazine critical of Erdo?an confiscated, editors arrested

An Istanbul court has ordered the confiscation of the latest issue of Nokta magazine on the grounds that it "incites crime" due its cover, less than two months after it was first confiscated for "insulting the president." The magazine's editor-in-chief and chief news editor have been arrested. 

Hürriyet voices concern regarding seizure of Koza ?pek companies

Daily Hürriyet has expressed its serious concerns regarding freedom of the press, as well as the right to property and free enterprise, in an editorial Oct. 28 following a move to seize control of Koza ?pek Holding, which has interests in the media and other sectors.
