The Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Prosecution has summoned Lulzim Kabashi, a former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA, for questioning on allegations of crimes committed during the Kosovo independence war of the late-1990s.

"I have been invited by Hague prosecutors in the capacity of witness," Kabashi told BIRN.

He is due in The Hague on 24 September.

Kosovo's outgoing Prime Minister had resigned on July 19, 2019, after he was summoned by Special Prosecution from the Hague, as a suspect for the crimes committed by KLA on Kosovo, in the period from 1999 to 2000.

He had invited the leaders of the political parties of the ruling PAN Coalition to consultations on Tuesday.
When asked what will be the topics to discuss, he ironically responded that they will discuss "global warming", Pristina based gazette Express reported.

The shock resignation of Ramush Haradinaj drew sympathetic comments from senior Kosovo officials and politicians on Friday after the prime minister was summoned for questioning by the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor's Office in The Hague, which is investigating crimes committed during and just after the Kosovo war, from 1998 to 2000.

Haradinaj said that he prevented "partition."

"I was invited as someone accused of criminal offenses, but they did not mention which cases," Tara said.

He said he was invited for questioning on March 5, 6, and 7, and that he would tell the prosecutors that the KLA fought a defensive war.
