AKP, CHP move to become intervening parties in coup attempt case

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) have requested to become intervening parties in the case in which top soldiers are on trial over events at the General Staff Headquarters on the night of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

Turkey's supreme election board to file criminal complaint against main opposition CHP leader

Turkey's Supreme Election Board (YSK) announced May 3 that it will file a criminal complaint against main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu over the latter's remarks about the election watchdog. 

The YSK's decision came after an unscheduled meeting on May 3.

The Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office has launched a probe into a former French diplomat on charges of "instigation of the assassination of the president," a presidential spokesperson said on April 24.

İbrahim Kalın told a press meeting that a statement by Philippe Moreau Defarges was not an insult or a criticism but a call for an assassination.

Turkish coup soldiers were ordered to shoot at will: Indictment

The soldiers who participated in the July 15, 2016, failed coup attempt were ordered to shoot at will, according to an indictment prepared by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding coup activities at the Akıncı Air Base. 

The 4,658-page indictment, which includes a total of 481 suspects, was sent to court on March 31. 

Investigation launched into eight Anadolu Agency reporters over Gülen links

An investigation has been launched into eight reporters at Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency over suspected links to the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, widely believed to have been behind the failed July 15, 2016 coup attempt.
