Turkey orders detention of 79 former school employees over Gülen links

The Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office on Sept. 13 issued detention warrants for 79 people who previously worked at private schools and private teaching institutions closed with state of emergency decrees. Some 30 people have been detained in line with the warrant so far. 

Police detain 39 municipality staff in Turkish capital over Gülen links 

Police on May 24 detained 39 municipality staff working for local governments in Ankara over their alleged use of ByLock, an encrypted messaging application linked to the Gülen movement, which is accused of perpetrating the July 2016 coup attempt.    

Earlier, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued detention warrants for a total of 79 municipality staff.

Lawyers refuse to defend ISIL suspects in Ankara bombing trial

The appointed lawyers for 36 suspects linked to last year's deadly Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) bomb attack in the Turkish capital Ankara have demanded to withdraw from the case, telling the court board that they do not want to plead in the case, which opened on Nov. 7.
