Student molester handed 10-month suspended prison sentence
A 20-year-old university student was handed a 10-month suspended prison sentence after his arraignment Tuesday in a criminal court in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on charges of sexually assaulting an unsuspecting fellow female student while she was studying.
The incident occurred at the Aristotle University library last week.

Cannabis, pills being sold on university campus
Seven people were arrested on the campus of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on Tuesday on drug dealing charges.
The suspects are six Greeks aged between 21 and 49, and a 26-year-old foreign national.
They were all found in possession of cannabis and narcotic pills that they intended to sell, police said.

Elpidophoros selected new archbishop of America
Metropolitan of Bursa Elpidophoros has been selected as the new archbishop of America to replace Demetrios who stepped down earlier this month. The decision was taken by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul.
Elpidophoros, 52, was born in Istanbul in 1967 and from August of 2011 had served as the abbot of the Monastery of Holy Trinity in Halki.

Police in Thessaloniki probe multiple acts of vandalism at university
Police in Thessaloniki on Monday were investigating several instances of vandalism at the city's Aristotle University including the torching of two garbage dumpsters by suspected arsonists in the early hours of the morning.

Police in Thessaloniki said on Friday hat they arrested six people peddling dugs on the campus of Aristotle University.
According to police, the six suspects - Algerian, Syrian and Palestinian nationals - were also dealing in the wider area of Aghios Georgios Square.

Several violent incidents, including two attacks against police forces and two sports-related clashes, took place overnight in Athens and Thessaloniki.
Cocaine smuggler arrested at Athens Airport
A 27-year-old Brazilian man who swallowed 95 packages containing a total of 1.7 kilos of cocaine was arrested on Thursday at Athens International Airport.
Police said the man flew into Athens from Sao Paolo via Zurich.
He appeared before an Athens prosecutor later in the day.
