Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Serbia will insist that extraordinary local elections for four Serb majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo be held after the long-promised Association of Serb Municipalities is established.

Three prominent Serbian Orthodox bishops have called on believers to pray and fast for Kosovo, and for services for Kosovo to be held every evening until August 10 in churches across Montenegro and Kosovo itself.

The call was issued on Saturday by the leading Serbian bishop in Montenegro, Amfilohije, and the bishop of Budimlija-Niksic, Joanikije.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday that measures would be taken to strengthen the Serbian army and intelligence services after talks with Patriarch Irinej about what Vucic called the "survival of the Serbian people" in Kosovo.

President Vucic claimed on Friday in an open letter to Kosovo Serbs that Pristina will "not lift a finger" to establish the promised Association of Serb Majority Municipalities in Kosovo as agreed in the EU-mediated Belgrade-Pristina talks on normalising relations.

"Kosovo gave the mandate to the Steering Team to draft the statute of the Community, that is, the Association (of Serb Municipalities, ZSO), which is in progress and will take time," Kocijancic told Tanjug on Wednesday.

BRUSSELS - The agreement on establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities must be implemented with no delay, European Commission spokesperson Maja Kocijancic said Friday, announcing that a new round of the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina would take place in Brussels on March 19-21.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Head of the Serbian government office for Kosovo Marko Djuric has said that the Kosovo authorities are responsible for the fact that the Brussels agreement on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina has not been implemented in full.
