Riot police unit attacked in central Athens

A riot police unit stationed behind the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) was attacked by hooded youths on Friday afternoon, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.

The attack occurred at 4.15 p.m. when about 10 youths started hurling stones, plastic bottles and other objects against the officers.

They then fled the scene. No arrests were made.

Four people are detained during a police operation on Saturday morning to evacuate a squat in central Athens, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.

The listed, three-story building, located at the corner of Maromateon and Derigny, belongs to the nearby Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), and had been occupied by anarchists for about 13 years, the report said.
