Accident with one dead Hellenic Navy Seal NCO in the Underwater Demolition Unit
A non-commissioned officer of the Underwater Demolition Command tragically lost his life on Friday morning.
According to the announcement from the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS):
“On Friday, November 29, 2024, at approximately 12:10, during training at the Underwater Demolition Command, Leading Seaman (T/HN/DB) A.K. lost consciousness.

Two men robbed at knifepoint in Aigaleo
Two young men were robbed last night outside the Agia Marina metro station in the western Athens suburb of Aigaleo.
According to police reports, the incident took place shortly before midnight when three unidentified assailants approached the victims, both 21 years old. Armed with knives, the attackers assaulted the men, stealing their chains and other personal belongings.

Officers involved in deadly pedestrian crash released
Two police officers detained after hitting and killing a pedestrian with their patrol car in southern Athens on Wednesday were released, state-run broadcaster ERT reported Thursday.
According to eye-witness testimonies, no evidence emerged that they had run a red traffic light, ERT said, though the official investigation is still under way.

A 65-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident involving a police car in the Athens neighborhood of Moschato on Wednesday.
The man was pronounced dead at the Attiko Hospital, where he was transferred after being hit by the police car.

Piraeus Bank head out of hospital
Piraeus Bank head George Handjinicolaou announced on Thursday he has been discharged from Attiko Hospital after successfully battling the coronavirus since mid-March.
He went on to thank the medical staff of the hospital in western Attica.
